Meeting Agenda Wednesday, Dec. 4

At our last meeting we discussed next steps for implementation of our Strategic Technology Plan.  We decided that the next significant 'project' to take on was the development of  a Digital Citizenship curriculum to cross all departments and grade levels.

I've posted several documents to the shared folder regarding digital citizenship.  The document Curriculum Resource List has a variety of links to other useful materials.  Please try to take a few moments and scan over some of this material.

For our meeting discussion:

  1. What is "Digital Citizenship"?
  2. Examples of comprehensive curricula
  3. Materials and resources to draw on
  4. Organizing our approach

Tech Committee Meeting Notes:
11/20/13

In attendance: D. Parker, C. Bosco, M. Nelson, T. Quin, K. Roos, P. Conis, M. Hauck

- Google Apps for Education:
Mike reporting out on themMeeting re: GAfE. Meeting went well.  No decision was made, but information was positively received
Questions were around cost, data security, archiving email (what are the requirements and can GAfE really meet our needs?), do we continue to get e-rate funding if we use google?
Discussed what we already have that GAfE would replace, and what we would still need
Question about is do we just have to archive email? What about other forms of communication?
We need a more comprehensive software architecture- discussion about x2, power school, etc

- Strategic Plan:
Copies of strategic plan have been delivered to admin.

- Devices Policy:
Cell phone policy has been changed in the handbook.  New policy says electronic devices in front of a teacher in a classroom for educational purposes.  Also in cafĂ©.  Not in halls, and not walking across campus.
This means we need to make changes to acceptable use policy.  Tammy is bringing copies of other schools’ acceptable use policies from her principals’ meeting tomorrow

- Strategic Plan Implementation:
How do we want to implement this?
Paula made a bid to put digital citizenship as our next priority, as it has the most impact on student learning
Every teacher should incorporate digital citizenship into the curriculum for their class as appropriate.
Mike N. made a bid for 1-to-1
Wifi system was built to be able to support up to 4-5  devices per person
